Abdullah further strengthens his power with a minor cabinet reshuffle!

Tun Dr. Mahathir,

Today is really a very special day for Malaysia because Pak Lah announced a minor reshuffle of cabinet, whereby Pak Lah himself swapped with immediate effect as at noon today the post of Finance Minister that was held by him personally with the post of Defence Minister that was held by Najib Razak until this morning.

Pak Lah has already controlled the Police through the Minister of Home Affairs, Syed Hamid, who is his long-term friend. The control of police has also been reinforced since March 2008 with the appointment of Pak Lah's former political secretary to hold the post of the First Deputy Minister of Home Affairs.

With the appointment of Pak Lah himself as the Defence Minister, Pak Lah is able to seize the military power from now on. It seems that Pak Lah is laying his own path towards a dictatorship. Pak Lah's control over the militant police will further strengthen his control over the Federal Government as well as the national security forces, since the militant police are believed to have generally possessed the inherent power of carrying out a duty of arrest on any minister who is to be accused for committing any wrong doing in relation to treason or defection.

With the appointment of Najib Razak as the Finance Minister, Pak Lah is now having a runner who can help him to run up a prosperity in the national economy. Najib Razak has no choice but to work diligently to make the national economy prosper otherwise he will have to let go his chances of becoming the successor of Pak Lah as the next Prime Minister after June 2010. This seems to be a smart move by Pak Lah.

However, I still think that Pak Lah's main problems are not being overcome yet. His immediate threat may not be from Anwar Ibrahim since Anwar Ibrahim will be given no chance to table a motion of no confidence against Pak Lah in the Parliament due to the dictatorial rule in the Parliament. The biggest challenge for Pak Lah now shall be coming from Tun, as Tun is the most ferocious critic against Pak Lah and I think Pak Lah will never find an easy solution to chekmate Tun.

However, I wish to advise Tun that it is time now for Tun to rethink your personal safety problem since the militant police can always be called upon in order to take an arrest on Tun if Tun shall have overdone something towards Pak Lah.

Like I said in the past, Pak Lah is a fast learner and he will sooner or later learn all the tricks and gimmicks which Tun used to specialise in. Therefore Tun had better watched up for yourself in what you want to talk from now on!
